Caesar Augustus was born in 63 BC as Octavian. His grandfather on his mother's side was Julius Caesar's sister. Julius had kept many of Octavian, and adopted him as his own when Octavian was 20. He promised that his successor Octavian would be. A year later killed Brutus Julius. Octavian initially with his brother in law, Mark Antony, prevailed. Mark Antony had separated from Octavian's sister and kept for Cleopatra. Octavian's relationship with his brother census records in law soured.
